Bold, glossy, and impossible to miss, Armadillidium gestroi are a striking species known for their deep black bodies splashed with vivid yellow markings. They have a classic roly-poly shape and can fully conglobate, making them both hardy and fun to observe.

These isopods are active, adaptable, and relatively quick to establish once settled. They thrive in a setup with good ventilation, plenty of leaf litter, cork bark hides, and a moisture gradient. Compared to Cubaris species, they’re less fussy and more forgiving, making them a solid choice for keepers who want something eye-catching without ultra-slow progress.
